I'd just like the things I mentioned in my post above. And true 'nuf, parts get performed, backed up, the copies throw away (or stored in the attic for gawd only knows what reason, like I'll ever refer to them again LOL). I'm not looking for engraving quality either. Do I think they are likely to happen? Not much, Can I live with it just the way it is if I must? Yep. Would I love to see improvements? You betcha.

Since I first used Notator to do the TV series 'Zorro' back in the early 90's,and Logic since then, I have used it successfully and it has been adequate for those needs. If it gets the job done, it gets the job done. So in the end, it depends on how fussy you are with this stuff. I replied, 'Do you think the players care about that?' and she said, 'No, but it is not up to MY standards.' She said something like, 'Well that is a dealbreaker for me.' But then she started to ask things like, 'Why does Logic put it there?' or 'Can I change this to this?', etc. I showed here how much easier it was to do some of these in Logic and she was impressed. These BTW may well be improved in current versions.

IAt the time FInale required that if you changed the score, you had to independently change the part as they were not instantly updated, which I hated, plus there were a bunch of other ridiculously cumbersome things.

I remember having Bonnie Janofsky, the president of the LA Finale users group, come over a number of years ago. I/we don't care if the parts are elegant or that if the conductor has to occasionally augment them with a verbal instruction.

The parts are clear so that it does not cause the players to make mistakes. The parts accurately reflect what the composer needs from the player.

Typically, we pass out the parts, the players play them, and they are recorded, the files are backed up onto DVDs, and the parts are thrown away. These are not engraved quality scores for publishing or to go into a library. But you have to admit that there is tons of room for improvement. Please don't get me wrong - I'm not slamming Logic's score editor. The '10% of struggle' that I'm referring to has to do with such things as Logic's lack of intelligent symbol placement, lack of handles (or too few handles) on various score symbols, its inability to maintain reasonable spatial relationships between notes and score markup when you reduce the size of score or part, things like that. Same here, though not with your pedigree, every score I've ever written was done in Logic, but the requirement of the client sometimes mandated that Finale be used for final printout/parts.
